This past Thursday at 2 PM, bids were opened for the construction of the Municipal Services Facility which is to be located on the corner of Wood Lane and Velp Ave. Four bidders submitted completed documents on the project. Bids came in as follows:
The Boldt Company: $4,424,000
Howard Immel Inc.: $4,598,000
Miron Construction Company: $4,652,039
The Selmer Company: $4,715,000
Also included in the bid documents were a number of deduction alternatives for the board to consider. Wisconsin State Statutes require cities and villages to choose the lowest qualified bidder. The bid documents are being reviewed by Dimension IV and Village staff for accuracy. The apparent low bidder is The Boldt Company.
The Village Board will make a final review of the bids at 7 PM on Monday, March 1, 2010 at their regular Board Meeting. The topic will be be on the agenda that evening for bid award.

Municipal Services Center Sent Out For Bids
On January 26, bid packets were available for the Municipal Services Center. The ad for the bid packs is contained below.

The Village of Suamico will receive bids for labor and materials as described in the Bid Documents until 2pm February 18th 2010 at which times bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Sealed bids should be sent to or delivered to the Village of Suamico, 2999 Lakeview Drive, Suamico, WI. 54173.
Project consists of the development of 6.8 acres on a 13 acre site to include 2 principle buildings and 2 small out-buildings. The project site is located at the northwest intersection of Wood Lane and Velp Avenue. The buildings include the following.
1. Department of Public Works Office and Maintenance Building: 27,800 s.f. . This also includes the Village Board Room, Police Offices, and support spaces. The Office portion is constructed with steel frame and steel stud walls, precast floors, and wood roof trusses. The Maintenance portion is load bearing precast concrete wall panels and steel roof deck and joists.
2. Vehicle Storage Garage, 19,500 s.f. The structure is pre-engineered metal frame, metal roof and wall panels.
3. Truck Wash Building, 1,300 s.f. The structure is load bearing masonry with metal wall panels and wood roof trusses, and a metal roof.
4. Wooden Salt and Sand Storage Shed. Capacity to hold 750 tons of salt and 300 tons of sand. This is a contractor provided design and construction. Bid documents outline a performance specification and show an example of the typical type of construction expected.
A site examination and pre bid conference has been scheduled for Tuesday February 2nd at 10:00am at the Suamico Village Hall, 2999 Lakeview Drive.
Drawings and specifications will be made available January 26th for pick up at Blue Print Services inc. and at www.blueprintservice.com. Bid documents may also be viewed at several Building Exchanges, and also at the office of Dimension-IV, 163 North Broadway, Green Bay, WI. 54303, (920)431-3444. Bid documents can be viewed at the Suamico Village Hall, 2999 Lakeview Drive.
The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, waive or not waive any informalities in the Bids received and to accept any proposal which is deemed most favorable to the interests of the Owner.
No Bidder may withdraw his Bid within 60 days after the actual date of the opening thereof.
Bids will be held open for thirty days. A bid bond and performance bond will be required. The Owner encourages MBES and WBE’s to submit bids. The Contract shall be subject to Section 66.0903 of the Wisconsin Statutes for wage scales.

Plan Development Continues on New Facility
Dimension IV reported to the Village Board this past Monday evening on progress that was being made in developing the bid plans and specifications for the new Municipal Facility. We are on track to let the bids in early January. Architect Dan Roarty reviewed choices for the front facade options and decorative lighting.
Staff updated the board on the design of the technology systems that will be included in the building including security systems, audio visual systems for the board and committee rooms, telephone system and the computer networking. The Village is working with Remote Operations Company, 200 Packerland Drive in the design of these systems.
The next scheduled update on the facility will be on January 4 at 7 PM during the regular Board Meeting.
